Today I celebrate in bittersweet remembrance, my son Andrew's birthday. He would have turned 9 years old. Hard to believe it's been that many birthdays. Why bittersweet? Bitter because I miss him each and every day. Sweet because I know he is my son forever and I will see him again. "Life's not the breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away". In the time he was here with me, he gave me more precious moments than I could hope for.

First Day of School

Cybill's first day of school. Sophmore year. Inconceivable! It has taken me the couple weeks since she started back to school to really let it sink in. And so I post this now, two weeks after she started. Reality. Can you imagine me when she goes off to college!? Oh my, let's not get worked up right now for nothing. I have time. A little. Until then, Cybill has a great year ahead of her and I am so proud of all her lovliness.

The Uninvited Guest

The Uninvited, Unwanted, Unwelcome...you get the picture, Guest was an opossum.

Cybill discovered him in our garage one night while she was feeding the cats. All she saw was the rat like tail, and that was enough to send her dancing into the house, in a rather excited, shrilling voice that she saw something.

The opossum thought he could just blend right in with our two cats, get free food and bask in the protection of our garage without being noticed.

Devin to the rescue! After two days, a call into the animal control, and the critter not showing any signs of leaving, or payment for his accommodations, Devin caught the opossum, trapped him in a storage bin and let him go in the forest by our home. Far enough away I hope.

A golf club is the best defense, didn't you know? (I could input something about Tiger and Elin, but I will let your own imaginations go with that one.)

Did you know that opossums stink? Really really bad? Devin soon discovered that one. I stayed back at a safe distance for good measure. The critter didn't run right away. Just stayed there like a statue. We ran faster than he did.

Oh. And to the people walking their dogs, staring at us as we were coming out of the forest..."What, you mean a man and a woman coming out of the forest at twilight in flip flops, holding an empty storage bin, a camera and a golf club looks unusual? Come on...

Andrew Devin Pace...my beautiful boy

7 years ago this day, August 2nd, my sweet son, Andrew died. It was the saddest day of my life. This was the last photo I have of him. It was taken on my birthday that year, a week before his death.
"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal."

My little man getting his first big boy haricut. Seeing pictures helps me to "see" him. The chubby fingers, the long blonde eyelashes, the beautiful blue eyes...

All people he loved, and they adored him too
He touched many lives, many more than he knew

This little prince was royal above most
He was matchless and precious to his family
But it was to the royal courts he returned, so young
Back to our King, the prince's celestial crown he had won

My Avatar Babies! This is what happens when, one: your husband allows them to watch a little bit of Avatar, and two: when Mom lets them play with the front door open, and am getting dinner ready. It really had an impact on them. (BTW~ It's sidewalk chalk.)

Fun in the Monterey Sun

We had fun playing at The Dennis the Menace Park in beautiful Monterey, CA. A quick drink after a roarin' good time.
Cate's favorite way of going down the rolling slide was backwards. She loved it!
Cambria loving the new play equipment added to the already amazing park.
Cate was sporting the backwards hat most of the day. Such a trend setting toddler.
All three beauties Cambria, Cate and our friend Halle coming down the slide. Even though this was not our first time to this park, it was a first with my camera!

Alright you all. For some reason I have had the fire lit under me again to get this blog going. Again. So hopefully I can update it periodically. Not every 6 months, but maybe every month. You know, start slow. Here we go! We'll see. I have to say Facebook is more up my ally, but this is fun too. Wish me luck! And get on my case if I fall short. It's nice to have help once in a while.

It certainly has been a long time! Here's a quick update...Cate turned one year on July 31st. We had a little party for her and had a great time celebrating our sweet Catie-Bug. Cambria is just starting the dress up stage and loves it. Thank goodness for all of Cybill's old dress up costumes. Each day is a new outfit. Cybill started the 8th grade this year. The picture is of her on her first day of school. She also turned 13 September 10th. And no, I can't believe I have a teenager!! The other pic is from a beach house. We spent our last week of summer vacation on the beach. It was so much fun. Lots of fun family memories. The other picture is just too cute to pass up with Cambria and Cate actually caught in a moment of sisterly love. (: They really are good with one another, but I will say Cate holds her ground well. She learns...fast. All in all, Devin and I are great. Nothing new with us. Just living each day trying not to blink as life somehow seems to go by faster the older we get. Live, Laugh, Live...right?

We just found out today that Devin passed the bar exam! I repeat-DEVIN PASSED THE BAR EXAM!!! We are just so thrilled, relieved, excited, happy...need I say more?! I am so proud of him and all his hard work to get this far. So much sacrafice. Devin Lane Pace, Attorney at Law. Sounds good, doesn't it!! Lots of tears of joy and happy shouting at our house. And of course, thanks to a loving Father in Heaven for bounteous blessings. GO Devin! Yeah!!

Happy Mother's Day

I had a great day today. I feel relaxed, celebrated and very much loved. I went to my Mom's house to talk to my brother Sean. (He called home from his mission in Peru.) It was so nice to hear his voice again. He's doing great! We went to church with my Mom in Ojai. It was nice to see familiar faces there. After coming back home, I was given a yummy dinner that I did not have to cook or clean up from Devin and Cybill. I received a beautiful heart shaped necklace from Tiffany's (love that little blue box) from Devin, and perfume, Covet, (don't you love it!?) from Cybill, Andrew, Cambria and Cate. Not to mention the beautiful cards. I loved my day and love being a mom. I am so blessed to be the mother of such wonderful children. As a friend's license plate frame says, "Love my life as Mommy and Wife!" And, I do.

Yes, it is me, updating my blog. We have been so busy with so much I have a lot to update. First, and for now, we got together with my side of the family at my Mom's house to celebrate my brother, Stephen getting hired on with Oxnard Fire Department! Yeahhhh! We are all so excited and happy for him and his family. He's going through the academy right now. Sounds tough! So we said congrats and good luck with yummy food from Qtime, root beer floats and cake, swimming and good ol' family fun! Here are a few pics. And be sure to tune in later. No it's not me from Peru. It' s my brother Sean who's serving a mission there. Sean, or Elder Lowry, is enjoying the area of Lima, Peru. He is excited that he is out of the MTC. Here is the latest picture I have. It shows all the missionaries with the mission president, his wife and all the missionaries that came out with Sean. (Sean is 3rd from the right). Look at how happy he is! I love it. Service with a smile! (:

Another Great Reason to We Live Here

This week the girls and I headed up to the snow in Mt. Pinos, Frazier Park area. We had a blast! (Once my car stopped sliding and I could catch my breath once more...) And I am reminded once again that California is such a wonderful place to live with mountains one way and the beach another... fun in any direction. My sister in law, Kathy and her girls joined us. We had so much fun. Cybill enjoyed sledding, rolling around, making snow angels and snowwomen. Cambria was happy sledding with Auntie Kathy and eating snow. Yes, it was clean. Cate kept mommy happy by keeping her warm with wearing the Bjorn, and being the happy girl she is. I loved seeing my own girls and my nieces play together, knowing that they will remember this forever. The scenery was so gorgeous with the tall pine trees, their branches kissed with snow, and untouched snow drifts waiting for someone to claim them. I think we are more than qualified now to become the official Pace Snow Bunnies of 2008.

How, you may ask, can I call myself an official blogger if I haven't posted anything since I first began almost two months ago? The nerve, I know. Well, I guess since I created this in large for Sean who is serving in Peru at the moment, and cannot view this as he is in the MTC... I guess I figured I had more time. Guilt and experimentaion got the best of me. So in short, I will try my best to make it a habit to post the latest on what's happening.
